Hello, welcome to Mrs. Povey and Grade Three. I've decided to create this blog to satisfy a few big goals I've set for the year ahead.
This year I have my own class, which is very exciting and may be quite an interesting journey. I feel pretty inspired at this point in time (1wk prior to the school term starting). I'm putting ideas together for fun and interesting lessons, classroom displays, behaviour management strategies and shaping the little minds I'll have in front of me all year.
So, back to those goals. I guess I want to share this journey and keep a place for the memories along the way. Another big goal is to build strong relationships with my student's and their parents. I really want to know these little people, their backgrounds, their families and their experiences, so my intention is that this will become a class blog once school begins, where my students can show their parents little bits of their life at school.

I'm sure the first week will be filled with many adventurous and exciting tales from the school holiday period. Great timing to be starting our recount writing unit. This is a picture of me on the 'Routeburn Track'. It's a stunning three day trek in the South Island of New Zealand. Here we are stopping on an part of the mountain that rolled significantly in a 2009 avalanche, we couldn't afford not to stop considering the view.
